Hemorrhoids - Yoga remedies

Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swollen veins in the lower rectum and anus. They can be internal, located inside the rectum, or external, located under the skin around the anus.

The most common cause of hemorrhoids is increased pressure on the veins in the rectal area. This can be due to straining during bowel movements, sitting for long periods of time on the toilet, chronic constipation or diarrhea, obesity, pregnancy, and aging.

Symptoms of hemorrhoids can include pain, itching, bleeding during bowel movements, and a lump or swelling near the anus. In some cases, hemorrhoids may also cause fecal incontinence, which is the inability to control bowel movements.

Treatment for hemorrhoids depends on the severity of the condition. Mild cases may be treated with over-the-counter medications such as topical creams and suppositories that can relieve pain and itching. Lifestyle changes such as increasing fiber intake, drinking plenty of water, and avoiding straining during bowel movements can also help.

In more severe cases, medical procedures such as rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy, or coagulation therapy may be necessary to shrink or remove the hemorrhoids. Surgery is rarely necessary but may be considered in extreme cases.

Prevention of hemorrhoids involves maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle, drinking plenty of water, avoiding straining during bowel movements, and exercising regularly. It's also important to practice good hygiene and avoid sitting for long periods of time on the toilet.

If you experience symptoms of hemorrhoids, it's important to consult with your healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment. While hemorrhoids can be uncomfortable and inconvenient, they are generally not a serious condition and can be effectively managed with appropriate care.
