Black fever or leishmaniasis is caused by a type of sandfly called sandfly. The name of the black fever germ is Leishmania donovani (Leishmania donovari). Sandflies ingest black fever germs along with blood from the patient's body. When the fly bites a healthy person, the parasite enters the human body and causes black fever. In addition to black fever, skin eruptions can be seen from this germ. It is called Cutaneous Leishmaniasis or Oriental sore. Sometimes only the skin and mucous membranes are affected.
