অকস্মাৎ প্রদাহযুক্ত হয়ে অতি প্রচণ্ড ভাবে রােগীকে শয্যাশায়ী করে ফেলে। উত্তাপ অবস্থায় রােগীর গাত্র যেমন অতিশয় উত্তপ্ত হয়ে পড়ে, হিমাঙ্গ অবস্থায় রােগী তেমনই হিম-শীতল হয়ে পড়ে।

ক্রমাগত বমি, বমি করতে করতে রােগী ঘর্মাক্ত কলেবরে হিমাঙ্গ হয়ে পড়ে। আক্ষেপকালে ক্রমাগত মাথা নাড়তে থাকে, মুখ একদিকে বেঁকে যায়। মুখমণ্ডল মৃতবৎ ফ্যাকাসে বা নীলবর্ণ।

আর্সেনিক এবং ফসফরিক অ্যাসিডের রােগী যেমন একান্ত দুর্বল হয়ে পড়ে, ভিরেট্রাম ভিরেডির রােগীও ঠিক তেমনই দুর্বল হয়ে পড়ে।
