Dithranol: Dithranol can stop the supply of ATP to the epidermal cells of the skin, thereby cutting off the energy supply to Keratinocytes. This mechanism may at least partially explain the therapeutic efficacy of dithranol on psoriasis. It has the ability to kill fungi.

Salicylic acid: It is a keratolytic agent. Salicylic acid accelerates desquamation, thus eliminating the invading fungus through this process and helping the medicine to penetrate the skin. In the process of keratolysis, the hard part of the epidermis (horny layer) of the skin falls off. Salicylic acid dissolves the intercellular cement and completes the desquamation process. The connective tissue holds the scales of the stratum corneum of the skin together. Salicylic acid mainly works by increasing exfoliation.

Boric Acid: It has bacteriostatic and fungistatic properties.

Each 100 gm ointment contains-

• Dithranol B.P. 0.75 grams
• Boric Acid B.P. 1.75 grams
• Salicylic acid B.P. 2.50 grams

This ointment is indicated in the following symptoms-

• shingles
• someone
• Psoriasis

• Wash the wound thoroughly with warm water.
• Then apply a small amount of ointment to the dry wound (do not apply outside the wound).
• Use the ointment once a day, as needed or twice as directed by your doctor, regularly until the wound heals.
• After the wound heals, use a small amount for 3-4 days for complete healing.

Hypersensitivity to this ointment is a contraindication. In addition, this ointment should not be used if you have the following conditions:

• Acute or actively inflamed psoriatic eruptions
• After shaving or bathing
• Avoid use on dentures
• Breastfeeding
• Children
• Do not apply bandage or heating pad
• Facial psoriasis
• Genital warts
• Hypersensitivity
• Hypersensitivity to this drug

The following is a list of possible side-effects that may occur from all constituting ingredients of this ointment. This is not a comprehensive list. These side-effects are possible, but do not always occur. Some of the side-effects may be rare but serious. Consult your doctor if you observe any of the following side-effects, especially if they do not go away.

• Contact allergic reactions
• Irritation in skin areas surrounding treated lesions
• Soreness
• Temporary discoloration of hair and fingernails
• Mild cold or burning sensation at the site of application
• Severe allergic reaction
• Cardiovascular defects
• Skeletal variations
• Mild kidney lesions
• Infertility

Do not use this topical ointment on normal skin outside the wound and on or near the eyes. Do not use this ointment if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Wash your hands thoroughly after using the ointment.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Not recommended during pregnancy. FDA has not yet classified the drug into a specified pregnancy category.
