By decreasing platelet aggregation, Aspirin inhibits thrombus formation on the arterial side of the circulation, where thrombi are formed by platelet aggregation and anticoagulants have little effect. Aspirin is the analgesic of choice for headache, transient musculoskeletal pain and dysmenorrhoea. It has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties, which may be useful. Enteric-coated Aspirin reduces intestinal disturbance and gastrointestinal ulceration due to aspirin.

অনুচক্রিকার জমাট বাঁধাকে কমিয়ে দিয়ে এ্যাসপিরিন ধমনীগাত্রে থ্রম্বাস গঠিত হতে দেয় না, যেখানে থ্রম্বাসগুলাে অনুচক্রিকার একত্র সংযােজন দ্বারা গঠিত হয়ে থাকে এবং যে ক্ষেত্রে রক্তজমাট বিরােধী উপাদানের কার্যকারিতা কম। এ্যাসপিরিন একটি বেদনা উপশমক যা মাথা ব্যথা, ক্ষণস্থায়ী পেশীকঙ্কালে ব্যথা এবং ঋতুকষ্টে ব্যবহৃত হয়ে থাকে। এর প্রদাহরােধী বৈশিষ্ট্য এবং জ্বরনাশক বৈশিষ্ট্য রয়েছে যা অত্যন্ত প্রয়ােজনীয়। এ্যাসপিরিন এর এন্টেরিক কোটিং আন্ত্রিক গােলযােগ, পরিপাকতন্ত্রের ঝিল্লির প্রদাহসহ ক্ষত ইত্যাদি অনেকাংশে কমিয়ে দেয়।
